Lessons Learned From Gideon About Following God's Direction

When God shows you His direction:

* Gideon looked at his experience, God looked at his potential

  -Potential: Hidden or undiscovered ability or talent.

* God said start with what you have, Gideon didn't believe it was enough

  -Right now you have enough to start. If you start it, God will finish it.

* God continually works to mature Gideon and have faith to stand with just a word

  -The Lord will always teach you to believe and graciously confirm His word

Judges 6:11-23 The Lord first speaks to Gideon and calls him to lead, Gideon needs lots of confirmation.

Judges 6:24-31 The Lord tells Gideon to sacrifice publicly, Gideon fearfully does it at night. His dad rescues him.

Judges 6:33-40 The Lord again empowers Gideon to lead and Gideon, weak in faith, sets out his fleece for confirmation.

Judges 7:1-7 The Lord again brings Gideon to a place of dependence on Him.

Judges 7:10-15 Gideon again needs his faith strengthened.

Judges 8 Gideon begins to lead fearlessly for the Lord
